  • What were your challenges?
To have the sensory machine actually working during the presentation. It was working perfectly in the try-outs and then when it was time to show it to the rest of the class it got really frustrating.
  • What did you learn from the most?
team work. without team work the whole project wouldnt have work. We all  worked collaborative and we were all commited.
  • What was your favorite aspect of the project?  Least favorite?
The whole project was really fun, and there was nothing that I disliked. It was really different from all the projects we have in school right now so it was really interesting.

We ended up with a really nice sketchbook and everything worked better than planned.

We worked individually to make a special work as a whole. Each of us made their own decisions according to how was the sketchbook in the time it was in our "power". We tried to have in mind the other persons ideas while working in our own style. We wanted it to have it's own flow to be done, and it did. We encountered some problems but they were easy to solve, since the solution was to work in a separate piece of paper and then paste it on the sketchbook. as a media i decided to use photoshop for the pictures and a white paper for the words in each picture. My partner wants to major in architecture, so he decided to draw black and white buildings from around the world. To have a connection, my words are in black and white (like his drawings) and his backgrounds have color (like my pictures).

My team and I first decided to grab something to eat. A full stomach thinks better than any brain in the world. CREPES!!

The we started to walk to our neighborhood. my job was to be the time keeper, I had like 35 alarms to be back on time.
The weather was really nice, the sun was out and it was the perfect ottom weather I was waiting for so long. The light and shadows of the street makes everything look magical... even Charles and Nicole!

Once we were in the neighborhood, we passed by a place that was fully wooden, and i bought a ferrero rocher and lemon ice cream, it was huge.

All the information was gathered in pictures, and Im in charge to focus on the textures:

assignment 1

2. write

I’m in the garden, laying in the grass and running around with my small dog, moving around, watering the flowers. There are two houses that I have a straight view of. A yellow and green house. Behind that, an enormous mountain that is being illuminated by the sun. There is a really bright sun and a blue sky with some puffy clouds. I chose this place because this was my favorite part of the day, where I got to chill alone in my favorite space in the world. I miss it, and I remember every corner of it. I appreciate every second I sped there. It smells like wet grass and lavanda flowers.

3. mapping exercise

As soon as I walk out of the building in 2 W 13th street I have to turn right. When I get to the corner I keep going straight because is less crowded than walking towards 14th street and then to union sq. I cross the street and walk under the new building of the New School, pass blick until I get to the next corner. The first thing I see in that corner is Vapiano, with its sign with big red letters. Then I either cross towards Vapiano or the hypotenuse to it, depends on where I have a green light to cross the street. Then I walk towards union square. I pass right next to strawberry and forever 21 (clothing stores) and then before getting to wholefoods, I walk down the stairs to get to the subway. In that half-a-block, I get to see union square’s statue, barely hear the harekrishnas singing and all the crazy people that pass by that plaza and the skaters. Once I’m underground, I walk really fast to get to my 456 green line track. And if I have time, I walk to the end of it. The place is boiling, its too hot and the fans just makes it worse. When the train finally arrives,  when I get out of this class, thankfully is not rush hour, so the wagons are not crowded or at least not TOO crowded. Inside the wagons are normally really cold, which is nice after walking under the sun and waiting in the boiling tracks. When I get to my stop in 59 and lex, I get out right in a H&M store, where I head south two blocks. I pass by different stores, Victoria’s Secret is across the street right next to an Aldo, The container store is on my left, and many others. Then When I get to 57, I cross the street and turn left, pass by a Juan Valdes Coffee Shop (witch is a Colombian Starbucks) and then get to my building.

LOST mapping:
Together as a group we made a wall-size map of being lost based on the memoir of Rebecca Solnit: A Field Guide of Getting Lost. This mapping was like a web connecting key words across the letters: L, O, S, and T. Every letter had an specific significance: L for example, was the people mentioned in the memoir, O and S where key words and the T where quotes taken from the memoir.

This project was really fun to make, because putting together a project between 4 people with different ideas is a real challenge. But we made it, and it ended up being really cool, interactive and 3D.
